Analysis on Characteristics of A Disaster Causing Rainstorm in the Mountainous Area of Northwest Fujian Province

Abstract On May 8, 2016, a dispersive extremely heavy rainstorm weather process occurred in the mountainous area of northwest Fujian, resulting in a debris flow disaster in Taining, the mountainous area of northwest Fujian. Based on the conventional meteorological observation data, Doppler radar, wind profile radar, encrypted automatic station and other data, the characteristics of the disaster causing rainstorm process were studied. The results show that: (1) During the extremely heavy rainstorm, the southwest jet stream was significant, with static front shear maintenance and obvious wind speed convergence on the south side of the warm shear. There was convergence line in the near ground, and the upper level pumping characteristics were obvious, which was a typical rainstorm rainstorm situation. (2) The boundary layer was invaded by cold air, and the topographic dynamic uplift and bell mouth topographic contraction provide good conditions for the formation of extremely heavy rainstorm. (3) There were multiple “train effects” on the radar combined reflectivity. During the strongest precipitation period, obvious wind speed convergence can be seen on the wind profile. There is mesoscale convergence on the densified automatic station, which has a good indication for rainstorm.
