Abstract  Objective：To develop a social alienation scale for cancer patients，and to test its reliability and validity.Methods：The initial item pool of the scale was formed by analyzing the concept of social alienation，literature search，Delphi expert correspondence and group discussion.A total of 543 cancer patients who were admitted to a tertiary grade A hospital in Tianjin city from May 2021 to October 2022 were selected by convenience sampling method.The patients were randomly divided into two samples by random number table.SPSS 26.0 and AMOS 26.0 statistical software were used to analyze the items and test the reliability and validity of the two groups of samples respectively.Results：The final social alienation scale for cancer patients included 4 dimensions and 24 items.The correlation coefficient between the scores of each dimension and the total score of General Alienation Scale were 0.627?0.738.Exploratory factor analysis extracted 4 common factors，and the cumulative contribution rate of variance was 68.65%.Confirmatory factor analysis showed that the model fit well.The Cronbach's α coefficient of the total volume table was 0.959，the Cronbach's α coefficient of each dimension ranged from 0.888 to 0.910.The split?half reliability was 0.949.Conclusions：The social alienation scale for cancer patients has good reliability and validity，and it can be used to measure the current level of social alienation of cancer patients.
