Best evidence summary for the prevention of surgical site infection in patients undergoing lumbar fusion

Abstract  Objective：To evaluate and summarize the best evidence for the prevention of surgical site infection（SSI） in patients undergoing lumbar fusion.Methods：Evidence related to the prevention of SSI in patients undergoing lumbar fusion was retrieved in relevant databases，guideline websites，and professional association websites in China and abroad.Two graduate students extracted and summarized the evidence from the literature.Evidence was extracted and graded.Results：A total of 14 literature was included，involving 6 guidelines，3 evidence summaries，3 expert consensuses， and 2 systematic reviews.A total of 32 pieces of best evidence for the prevention of SSI in patients undergoing lumbar fusion were summarized，including 5 aspects with personnel training，preoperative preventive management measures，intraoperative preventive management measures，postoperative preventive management measures，and post discharge intervention.Conclusion：The best evidence for the prevention of SSI in patients undergoing lumbar fusion can provide reference for medical staff to construct perioperative surgical site management plans for patients undergoing lumbar fusion.
