From November 5 to 8, István Jakab, Deputy Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly, led a delegation to Chongqing. He delivered a speech during the opening ceremony of the first Belt and Road Conference on Science and Technology Exchange, mentioning that Hungary, as an unwavering supporter of the Belt and Road Initiative, is willing to enhance cooperation with China in science, technology and innovation, and thus deliver benefits to people of the two countries and even the rest of the world.
On November 7, the delegation attended a series of activities held by the Consulate-General of Hungary in Chongqing, including the opening ceremony of “The Journey: János Fajó and the Pesti Workshop” exhibition; visited the “Chinese-Hungarian Cooperative Research Center for Food Science” jointly initiated and established by Southwest University and Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences, and had exchanges with Chinese and Hungarian experts.
They toured Eling Park, Shibati Old Street, Yangtze River Cableway and Dazu Rock Carvings in Chongqing. István Jakab spoke highly of Chongqing’s rich cultural and historical resources.
This was his fourth visit to Chongqing. He emphasized Chongqing’s crucial role in Hungarian–Chinese relations and shared some successful cooperative cases carried out by Hungary and Chongqing during a media interview.
