The Yongjia School was a Confucian school that emerged in the Yongjia region of Eastern Zhejiang (present Wenzhou, Zhejiang) during the Southern Song Dynasty. The school is named after Yongjia because many of its key figures were from that area. The school’s philosophy had a profound impact on the economic development of the Wenzhou region. The formation and growth of the Wenzhou Model are closely tied to the Yongjia School’s emphasis on practical achievements. Wenzhou people, with their pioneering spirit of daring to try and innovate, have created the globally renowned Wenzhou Model, making the region one of the main birthplaces of China’s private economy.
