Construction of endotracheal tube cuff management plan for ICU artificial airway patients

Abstract Objective： To construct the endotracheal tube cuff management plan for artificial airway patients in intensive care unit （ICU） based on Delphi expert correspondence method，in order to standardize nurses′ management behavior of artificial airway patients′ endotracheal tube cuff，reduce mechanical ventilation complications and improve patient prognosis.Methods： The preliminary draft of endotracheal tube cuff management plan for artificial airway patients in ICU was constructed by literature review，and the Delphi expert letter consultation method was used to conduct two rounds of expert letter consultation，and the final draft of endotracheal tube cuff management plan for artificial airway patients in ICU was formed according to the opinions of the experts.Results： The effective recovery rates were 100.00% and 82.35%.The expert authority coefficients were 0.910 and 0.920. Kendall harmony coefficients were 0.130 and 0.120. The coefficients of variation were 0.07～0.28 and 0.00～0.17. The final endotracheal tube cuff management plan for artificial airway patients in ICU includes 3 primary indexes，11 secondary indexes and 26 tertiary indexes.Conclusion： The endotracheal tube cuff management plan for artificial airway patients in ICU established in this study is scientific and practical，and can provide theoretical basis for clinical work.
