Study on correlation between death attitude and death education needs of nursing interns
Abstract Objective:To study the current status of death attitude and death education needs of nursing interns,and to analyze the correlation between them.Methods:A total of 123 nursing students from a tertiary A hospital in Shanghai were investigated with the Death Attitude Profile?Revised Scale and the Death Education Needs Scale by convenience sampling method.Results:The negative attitude toward death yielded score were 35.23±9.02,the positive attitude toward death yielded score were 59.70±14.01,and the Death Education Needs Scale score were 40.88±6.96.The Death Education Need score was negatively correlated with the dimension of death avoidance(P<0.05),and the score of the negative attitude toward death was positively correlated with the dimension of neutral acceptance(P<0.05).Conclusion:There is a high demand for death education among nursing interns.It is recommended that more emphasis be placed on meeting the funeral education requirements of nursing interns,aiding them in developing an accurate understanding of death and laying the groundwork for their future clinical work.
