Producing Practice with High Current Density in a Congo Cobalt Copper Smelter

Abstract   This paper introduces the process characteristics of a Chinese-funded enterprise’s cobalt copper smelter in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The paper analyzes the practical operation of producing grade-A copper under 333 A/m2 current density condition by controlling the quality of electrowinning solution, the  proportion and method of adding electrowinning solution additives, and maintaining good daily tank surface management, and introduces the detailed technical solutions to address issues such as excessive sulfur content in EW copper and excessive lead content in EW copper during the production process.
