AbstractObjective:To systematically evaluate the relationship between fatigue and social support in cancer patients. Methods:Studies on the correlation between fatigue and social support in cancer patients were retrieved from PubMed,the Cochrane Library,Web of Science,EMbase,CNKI,WanFang Database,VIP,and CBM.The search period was from the establishment of the database to March 1,2023.Two researchers independently conducted literature screening, data extraction, literature quality, and bias risk assessment.Meta-analysis was conducted using RevMan 5.3 software.Result:A total of 16 articles were included, including 15 in Chinese and 1 in English, involving 2 508 cancer patients. The Meta-analysis results show that the correlation coefficient between cancer related fatigue and social support was -0.319.The results of subgroup analysis showed that the correlation between patients with digestive system and gynecological tumors was relatively high;As the sample size increased, the correlation coefficient was different and showed a decreasing trend, but the amplitude of change was not significant; The correlation coefficients measured using different scales were different, but the changes were irregular. Conclusion:Existing evidence suggests a negative correlation between cancer related fatigue and social support, with higher levels of social support leading to lighter symptoms of cancer related fatigue. However, the correlation between cancer related fatigue and social support varies depending on the type of cancer.
