Abstract Objective：To systematically evaluate the intervention effect of painting therapy on adult malignant tumor patients.Methods：Following the principles and methods of evidence-based medicine，registration was conducted on PROSPERO （registration number：CRD4202333391）.Randomized controlled trials and quasi experimental studies on the intervention effect of painting therapy on adult malignant tumor patients were retrieved from CNKI，VIP，WanFang Database，CBM，Web of Science，PubMed，the Cochrane Library，EMbase，CINAHL，Clinical Trials，and China Clinical Trial Registry.The search period was from April 23，2022.Literature screening，data extraction and literature quality evaluation were conducted independently by two trained researchers.RevMan 5.4 software was used for Meta-analysis.Results：A total of 13 articles were included，involving 775 adult patients with malignant tumors.Meta-analysis showed that painting therapy could relieve anxiety［SMD=－0.97，95%CI（－1.12，－0.81），P＜0.000 01］，depression［SMD=－1.00，95%CI（－1.25，－0.74），P＜0.000 01］，fatigue［SMD=－1.40，95%CI（－1.87，－0.92），P＜0.000 01］ and improve the quality of life［SMD=1.09，95%CI（0.68，1.51），P＜0.000 01］ of patients after intervention.Conclusion：Existing evidence suggests that painting therapy can effectively alleviate anxiety，depression，and fatigue symptoms in adult malignant tumor patients，and improve their quality of life.As the duration and frequency of intervention in various literature are not uniform and limited by the number of included literature，the above conclusions need to be further confirmed by more high-quality randomized controlled trials.
