The Thought of Ecological Postmodernist Community and Its Critical Reflections:Also on the Chinese Approach to Constructing a Community of Life Between Humanity and Nature
☉Wu Yisheng & Chen Yun
Postmodern ecological thought represents a distinct branch within the broader context of postmodernist ideology, with the concept of community as its central theme. The emergence context of the ecological postmodernist community thought is situated within a narrative that encompasses the universal relevance of organic thinking, a critique of dualistic philosophical approaches, and a pursuit of common well-being within a postmodern ecological civilization. The thought is characterized by its internal dimensions of local community, ecological community, and cosmic community. While the “green” intentions of postmodern ecological community thought are commendable, its undertones of“reactivism”, “pessimism”, and “generalization” warrant caution from a historical materialist perspective. Chinese-style modernization embodies a harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature, following a path that fosters a community of life between them. This path necessitates adherence to Marxist perspectives on the relationship between humanity and nature, leveraging the socialist advantages of ecological civilization construction in the new era, and developing an eco-civilization educational system with China characteristics.
