“哄堂大笑”相關(guān)記載最早見于唐代趙璘《因話錄》,典故衍生于宋代歐陽修《歸田錄》,后用以形容滿屋子的人同時(shí)大笑。
I n the Five Dynasties and TenKingdoms period, there were two officialsknown as Feng Dao and He Ning. One day,F(xiàn)eng Dao walked into the office in a freshpair of boots. Seeing this, He Ning 1)hastilyasked, “My friend, what was the cost ofthese new shoes?” Feng Dao, renownedfor his 2)leisurely pace, slowly raised hisleft foot and replied, “Nine hundred wen!”
“What? 3 )Merely nine hundredwen?” exclaimed the impatient He Ning,astonished. Quickly, he added, “How isit that my boots cost eighteen hundredwen? How can yours be so inexpensivelypriced?”
However, Feng Dao slowly raised his right foot and said, “This boot also cost nine hundred wen!”
