Associations of cheese intake with osteoarthritis:a Mendelian randomization study
Abstract Objective:Using Mendelian randomization method, explore the causal relationship between cheese intake and the risk of osteoarthritis. Methods:Data from gene-wide association studies were used for analysis. The exposure factor was cheese intake, and the outcome variable was osteoarthritis.Mendelian randomization(MR) analysis was performed by IVW method,MR-Egger method and weighted median, and pleiotropy test, heterogeneity test and sensitivity analysis were performed. Results:The results of IVW and weighted median showed that cheese intake was a protective factor for osteoarthritis, and there was a negative causal association between them(P<0.05).The MR-Egger regression showed no statistically significant association between cheese intake and osteoarthritis(P=0.335).The results were tested for no heterogeneity or pleiotropy, and sensitivity analyses did not identify SNPs that significantly changed the overall causal relationship. Conclusion:Cheese intake is causally related to osteoarthritis.
