Originating from the woodblock printing technique of theSong Dynasty, Taohuawu woodblock New Year paintings arean important intangible cultural heritage in China, whichare derived from the products of ancient book engravings.They reached their peak during the reigns of EmperorsYongzheng and Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty, knownas "Gusu Edition". After the Daoguang era, a woodblockNew Year painting with strong folk characteristics wasformed. This paper takes it as the research object to explorethe formation factors of Taohuawu woodblock New Yearpaintings and their interactive relationship with ancientbooks.
