Abstract Objective:To explore effect of blood collection from operative limb on lymphedema in patients with breast cancer after radical mastectomy. Methods:A total of 220 patients with breast cancer after radical mastectomy in our hospital were selected as research subjects from July 2019 to December 2020.The patients were randomly divided into test group and control group, with 110 cases in each group. The healthy limb was selected for blood collection in control group, and operative limb was selected for blood collection in test group.Measure arm circumference of operative limb and healthy limb of patient before blood collection,at 1 day after blood collection,at 7 days after blood collection, and at 28 days after blood collection.Arm circumference difference between test group and control group, and arm circumference difference among different time points were compared by generalized estimating equation. Results:A total of 190 patients were finally included after excluding lost and dead patients, including 81 patients in test group and 109 patients in control group.Except for vascular conditions, there was no significant difference between two groups in terms of general information(P>0.05).The results of the generalized estimation equation showed that there was no statistically significant difference between test group and control group in arm circumference of operative side and healthy side(P>0.05),and there was no statistically significant difference among each measurement time point in arm circumference of operative side and healthy side(P>0.05).As covariate, partial regression coefficient of blood vessel was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusions:Blood collection from operative limb has no significant effect on lymphedema in patients with breast cancer after radical mastectomy.
