Abstract  Objective：To test the reliability of the Chinese version of the Second Victim Experience and Support Tool（SVEST），to investigate the experience and support of nurses' second victims，in order to provide reference for the formulation and implementation of nursing management strategies.Methods：A total of 20 954 nurses from secondary and above hospitals in Shanxi province from May 2022 to June 2022 were selected as the research objects.A cross?sectional survey of nurses was conducted using the general data questionnaire and the Chinese version of SVEST.Results：The Cronbach's α coefficient of Chinese version of SVEST was 0.805，and the Cronbach's α coefficient of psychological distress，physiological distress，practice distress，colleague support，relatives and friends support，and management support were 0.731，0.827，0.792，0.763，0.810 and 0.739，respectively.The total score of SVEST for nurses was 66.91±13.04.The average score of distress was 3.32±0.93，the score of psychological distress dimension was 3.78±0.97，the score of physiological distress dimension was 3.21±1.13，and the score of practice distress dimension was 3.05±1.12.The average score of support was 2.24±0.73，the score of colleague support dimension was 2.21±0.83，the score of relatives and friends support dimension was 2.26±0.77，and the score of management support dimension was 2.29±0.96.Educational background，professional title，working years，hospital grade，number of night shifts per month，and leadership support were the influencing factors of experience and support of the second victim for nurses.Conclusions：The Chinese version of SVEST had high reliability，which could be used to measure the degree of experience and support for second victim in nurses.The experience and support of the second victim in nurses was at a medium level，and the psychological distress was serious.Managers should explore appropriate support model to reduce the psychological burden of nurses.
